As is well known, communication is a basic element of all human interaction, either between individuals, of an individual with a group of people. Communicative processes constitute substantial elements for the lives of organized human groups, particularly sensitive to communicative dynamics. For this reason, the existence or not of guiding criteria, that is to say, focused policies that allow to manage the information, results of maximum transcendence for the own institutions.
Before starting to address different aspects of information management, it is advisable to delimit its meaning:
In general, information is understood as the set of data, details and aspects that allow us to know a thing, that form an idea or that explain a concept. Although the basic information element is the data, only information is produced, when the articulation of the data between them is significant. We can have a lot of data and not completely lack information, if they do not configure a significant and relevant unit, as well as novel for the receiver.
Communication is a reciprocal internalization process, a sharing of a mental content that is one’s own and also becomes one of others. In this way, the idea of communication brings us back to the community. Thus, information is a basic requirement of communication; it is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition.
With the emergence of organizational theory, the importance of information was emphasized. An organization is a system made up of people, material resources and information. The latter determines the “order and chaos” between individuals, resources and the person-resource relationship. For this reason, organizations should be considered as information systems. The impact of economic, political, cultural, technological and other changes has led to a revolution in the management of information in organizations, thus changing norms, concepts, procedures, behavior, as well as products and services , A new perinea attitude in which to make daily the projection and the development of information activities; The new management model is indisputably an indispensable basis for knowledge management.
The purpose of this essay is to address the theoretical principles of Information Management, based on books, texts and publications, and to clearly understand what the term is and what it is about. There is also talk of how the information management can be circumscribed within the framework of a Technological Socio-Technological Project (PST) of the National Training Program in Informatics, taking into account the influence of this in the development of the same. Finally, it explains and discusses the characteristics of an organization, where a PST is performed and the importance and impact of information management. All this was achieved through digital research in cyberspace, the use of study techniques, reasoning and critical thinking, and collaborative learning.
In order to talk about information management and its impact in the current moments, in the different areas and levels of daily life, regardless of the type of organization, one must first know a little better what that term means. Will cite the definition of several authors referring to the subject, which will be the object of study in this essay.
For Celia Chain Navarro in her book titled “Introduction to the management and analysis of information resources in science and technology”, Editorial University of Murcia, Spain (1995); You can extract the following quote:
“Information management is all about getting the right information, in the right way, for the right person, at the right price, at the right time and place.”
On the other hand; Garcia Robles R, in his work titled “The new paradigm of knowledge management and its application in the educational field”. The management of the information conceptualizes it in the following way:
“Management of the information: It comprises the activities related to obtaining the adequate information, at an appropriate price, at the appropriate time and place, to make the appropriate choice”
And finally, In this same order of ideas, information management, according to Penguin Dante G.
“It is the process by which basic resources (economic, physical, human, material) are obtained, deployed or used to manage information within and for the society it serves.
